What You Earn by Finishing the Class

The Master Class Graduate Kickoff Meeting

Everyone who attends the full class earns a Master Class Graduate Kickoff Meeting — a private one-on-one Zoom meeting with our Client Services Director, at no charge.

Think of it as the front door. You describe your situation before you have to understand it. You tell us what's happening in your family, what you own, what worries you, and what made you decide it was finally time to do something.

You don't need to know whether you need a will, a trust, or something else. You don't need the legal terminology. And you don't need to diagnose your own estate plan before you talk to us — that's the whole reason the Kickoff Meeting comes first.

What it isn't: it's not a legal consultation and nobody drafts a trust on the call. It's not a legal strategy session. And it isn't somebody trying to sell you something. Its job is simpler — understand your situation, work out whether we can help, and show you what the next step is.

By the end you'll know three things: whether you're in the right place, what the process looks like, and what happens next.

It's reserved for graduates. The Book Now button comes up at the end of the class, for the people who are still there. That's the only way to get it.

You're not being given it — you're earning it by showing up and staying to the end.

What You'll Walk Away Knowing

No legal background needed. Nothing is sold from the stage. Here's exactly what you'll be able to do by the end of the 20 minutes.

  • Why a will doesn't keep your family out of court — it's what guarantees a judge is involved.

Mistake one, and the one that surprises people most. A will is the instruction sheet you hand a probate judge, and anyone with standing can contest it. You'll hear what that did to three siblings who grew up in the same house.

  • The difference between leaving it to your heirs and protecting it for them.

Mistake two, and the one that destroys the most wealth. Most people plan up to the moment of transfer and stop — without asking what happens to it afterward, when it meets a divorce, a creditor, or plain inexperience with money at that scale.

  • What happens in the stretch before death — when you're still here but can't sign or decide.

Mistake three, and the one almost nobody sees coming. If no one holds legal authority to act for you, your family can't simply step in; they have to ask a court first. You'll hear what that cost one family when the courts were closed.

  • Why "later" is the mistake that catches the most families — and the only one with a deadline you don't get to know.

Mistake four. Almost no family in a crisis is a family that said no. They said later. The other three you can fix this month; this one you can't.

  • What probate actually takes in Alabama and in Texas.

Alabama keeps an estate open at least six months — the window the law gives creditors to come forward. Texas runs differently, but even a clean, uncontested case takes months, and a contested one takes far longer.

  • Why the three most common workarounds don't work.

Doing nothing and letting the court decide. Adding your children to your accounts as joint owners — which exposes your money to their divorces and creditors. And assuming life insurance handles it. A policy is a check; it isn't a plan.

  • The four-step process his clients use instead — and what it costs.

A tailored plan rather than a template, because a single homeowner in Montgomery and a family running a business outside Dallas don't need the same thing. Flat fee, quoted before you commit, so no clock is ever running while you ask a question.

Is This Class for You?

This class is for you if…

  • You live in Alabama or Texas and own a home, land, a business, or anything you want to pass on.
  • You have no estate plan at all and you've been meaning to deal with it for a while. You are in the majority here, and you are exactly who this was built for.
  • You have a will and you're not certain what it actually covers.
  • A parent is aging, ill, or has been diagnosed with dementia, and you can see a hard decision coming.
  • You've inherited a property with several family members' names on it and nobody can agree on what to do with it.
  • You just bought a house, started a business, or turned 50 or 60 and you'd like to get this handled properly the first time.
  • You've been through someone else's probate and you don't want your family to repeat it.
  • You want a lawyer to explain this in plain English, with the price stated up front.

This class probably isn't for you if…

  • You're looking for federal estate tax strategy for a nine-figure estate. That's a different conversation with a different kind of firm, and this class won't serve you.
  • You want someone to hand you documents to sign today without understanding what they do. We teach first, on purpose.
  • You're outside Alabama and Texas. You're welcome to attend and learn, but we're only licensed to advise in those two states.
  • You already have a current, funded trust that you understand well and reviewed recently. You'd likely find this too foundational.

Not sure which column you're in? Most people aren't. The class is free and it's 20 minutes — that's a low-cost way to find out.

Who's Teaching This

Attorney Gregory Robinson

Attorney Gregory Robinson

Founder, The Robinson Advocacy Group · Montgomery, Alabama and Cedar Hill, Texas

Greg spent years as an Army officer with the 1st Cavalry Division before he ever practiced law. That's where he learned the thing that shapes how he teaches: a plan nobody understands is not a plan. If your family can't follow it under pressure, it doesn't work — no matter how well it's drafted.

He came to this work from three directions. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry Division. He earned his law degree at Mitchell Hamline and his MBA at Rice. And he's a Lean Six Sigma expert — he thinks in processes.

That combination is why he practices the way he does. The law tells you what's possible. The business side tells you what it costs a family to get this wrong. And process is what keeps a plan working after the documents are signed — because an estate plan isn't a stack of paper in a drawer, it's something that has to keep up with changes in the law and in your life.

Today he helps families and business owners across Alabama and Texas with estate planning, probate, and business law, and the firm is a member of WealthCounsel, so a national network of estate planning resources sits behind every plan. Flat fees, quoted before you commit. And he hosts Roots & Rights: Securing Tomorrow, a weekly podcast on exactly these questions.

He isn't doing this alone. Hector W.D. Faulk is the firm's Executive Vice President and a Texas-licensed estate planning attorney in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. If you're watching from Texas, Hector is your attorney — same process, same standards, licensed where you live.

Why Not Wait

Several times this week. Pick the one that fits.

No pressure and no countdown — just pick a time and we'll send you the link.

This is the kind of planning that only works beforehand.

Every document covered in this class has to be signed while you still can. A power of attorney and a health care directive are two of the least expensive documents the firm prepares — and in the class you'll hear about a woman in a coma whose family couldn't touch her own money, because the only person who could sign that authority was the person who'd lost it. That's not a sales tactic. It's the actual reason lawyers say “sooner.”

Almost no family in a crisis is a family that said no.

They're a family that said later. The plan was on the list. They meant to do it, they weren't careless and they weren't in denial — it just wasn't done. Three of the four mistakes you can fix any time you want. This is the one with a deadline you don't get to know in advance.

It's 20 minutes, and it's free.

The thing you've been putting off for two years takes less time than a lunch break to finally understand. If the timing isn't right, register anyway and come to a later one — you'll have the link either way.
